About Sydney Maughmer

From Air Force Veteran and IT professional to prospective Residential Architectural Designer.

After leaving the Air Force, I decided I didn’t want to return to the IT world. Instead, I would pursue a dream of my youth - becoming an architect. This adventure started by taking Construction Management classes at Edmonds College. By happenstance, in that time, I landed a position as a Structural Drafter at MKA. This gave me the confidence I needed to take a step into my next role, as an Architectural Project Designer/Manager at Blue Architecture. I’ve since returned to education, with the intent on completing a related degree before returning to the profession while also expanding my breadth of knowledge and capability.

I’ve been a long time hobbyist, in the field, having designed spaces since my childhood. This portfolio will display my professional, academic, and hobby projects, to give a more well-rounded view on my passion. My penultimate goal is residential design with the capability to properly perform interior and landscape design, with decent horticultural management. I greatly enjoy designing spaces and focusing on how people will move through them, what they will see and experience on that journey, and the effect I want the space to have on them.

Prior to enlisting in the Air Force, I was in school for Game Art and Design, as I had initially wanted to be a video game level designer. In my middle school years, I did web design. All of my life, I’ve been an artist in various mediums. Writing was also a large part of my youth. Creation and design are my core.

With all of this in mind, please enjoy browsing my portfolio of works.
